Overview

Behçet's disease is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease with underlying vasculitis of unclear cause. It is characterized by recurrent oral ulcers, genital ulcers, eye inflammation, and skin lesions, and may involve multiple systems.

Treatment

Corticosteroids and immunosuppressants are used according to the organs involved, with local symptomatic treatment of ulcers.

Dietary advice

A light diet avoiding spicy, irritating foods, with plenty of vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables.
