Flat Warts (Verruca Plana)

Overview

Flat warts are benign skin growths caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They appear as small, smooth, flat-topped papules that are skin-colored or light brown, often occurring in clusters on the face and hands, and are usually asymptomatic.

Symptoms

• Flat papules
• Skin-colored or light brown
• Smooth surface
• Scattered distribution
• Mild itching

Treatment

Most resolve on their own; topical retinoids or imiquimod may be used when needed, and cryotherapy or laser can remove lesions.

Dietary advice

A light diet with plenty of vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables to boost immunity.
