Nasal Polyps

Nasal Polyps

ENT

Overview

Nasal polyps are benign, mostly non-cancerous growths in the nose or sinuses. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, loss of smell, impaired taste, postnasal drip, and runny nose. They usually appear as sac-like, painless protrusions, often occurring in both nostrils.

Symptoms

  • Nasal congestion
  • Runny nose
  • Reduced sense of smell
  • Head fullness
  • Nasal voice

Treatment

Management focuses on medications such as intranasal corticosteroids. Large polyps or those unresponsive to medication may require endoscopic sinus surgery, with standardized follow-up afterward.

Dietary advice

Eat a light diet, drink plenty of water, and avoid spicy foods and known allergens.
