Intestinal tuberculosis is a chronic specific infection of the bowel caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, usually secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis. It commonly affects the ileocecal region, presenting with abdominal pain, altered bowel habits, an abdominal mass, and systemic tuberculosis toxicity.
Symptoms
- Abdominal pain
- Alternating diarrhea and constipation
- Weight loss
- Low-grade fever
- Fatigue
Treatment
Use standardized combined anti-tuberculosis drug therapy with enhanced nutritional support, and surgery for complications such as intestinal obstruction.
Dietary advice
Eat a high-calorie, high-protein, high-vitamin, easily digestible diet and strengthen nutrition.
