Dry Eye Syndrome
OphthalmologyOverview
Dry eye syndrome, also known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a condition of eye dryness. Other symptoms include eye irritation, redness, excessive discharge, easy fatigue, and sometimes blurred vision. It may be caused by inadequate tear production or overly rapid tear evaporation.

Treatment
Management focuses on lubrication with artificial tears and improving eye-use habits, reducing prolonged eye strain, and treating the underlying cause under a physician's guidance when necessary.
