Frozen Shoulder

Frozen Shoulder

Orthopedics

Overview

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a chronic non-specific inflammation of the shoulder joint capsule and surrounding soft tissues caused by injury and degeneration. It leads to shoulder pain, adhesion, stiffness, and limited range of motion in all directions.

Symptoms

  • Shoulder pain
  • Limited mobility
  • Nighttime pain
  • Stiffness
  • Difficulty raising the arm

Treatment

Management centers on functional exercise, physical therapy, and symptomatic pain relief. Most cases gradually resolve on their own, and local injection therapy may be used for severe symptoms.

Dietary advice

Eat a balanced diet with adequate high-quality protein and calcium, and keep the shoulder warm.
