Overview

Keratitis is inflammation of the cornea from various causes, including bacterial, viral, and fungal infections and trauma. It mainly presents as eye pain, photophobia, tearing, decreased vision, and corneal cloudiness, and may leave scarring that affects vision in severe cases.

Treatment

Use anti-infective eye drops based on the cause, maintain eye hygiene, and seek prompt care in severe cases to avoid corneal damage.

Dietary advice

Eat a light diet with plenty of vitamin A- and C-rich foods, and avoid spicy irritants.
