Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
PulmonologyOverview
Acute respiratory distress syndrome is acute diffuse lung injury caused by various pulmonary and extrapulmonary factors. It is characterized by increased alveolar-capillary permeability and pulmonary edema, presenting as refractory hypoxemia and progressive respiratory distress with a high mortality rate.
Symptoms
- Severe shortness of breath
- Refractory hypoxia
- Rapid breathing
- Cyanosis
Treatment
Actively treat the underlying disease, with lung-protective mechanical ventilation as the core, maintaining oxygenation and preventing and treating complications.
Dietary advice
Enteral nutritional support is often needed during the critical phase to ensure adequate calorie and protein supply.
