Measles

Overview

Measles is an acute, highly contagious viral disease caused by the measles virus, common in children. It initially presents with fever, upper respiratory inflammation (cough, runny nose), and conjunctivitis (redness, tearing, light sensitivity), followed by a red maculopapular rash and small white spots on the cheek mucosa (Koplik's spots). After the rash fades, pigmentation and fine bran-like scaling remain, and severe cases can be complicated by encephalitis or pneumonia.

Treatment
