A bunion is an abnormal deformity of the joint between the big toe and the foot, in which the big toe leans toward the other toes, causing redness, swelling, and pain of the joint. It tends to be progressive and complications include bursitis and arthritis.

Treatment
Mild cases are managed with wider shoes and orthotics, while severe symptomatic cases may require surgical correction.
