Breast Hyperplasia
Obstetrics & GynecologyOverview
Breast hyperplasia refers to proliferative changes in the breast tissue, commonly related to hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle. It often causes breast pain and lumps, with symptoms tending to worsen before menstruation. During the luteal phase, high levels of estrogen and progesterone increase breast blood flow and fluid retention, causing temporary breast enlargement with heaviness, swelling, and tenderness.
