Nephrotic Syndrome
NephrologyOverview
Nephrotic syndrome is a clinical syndrome caused by various kidney diseases, characterized by heavy proteinuria (urinary protein >3.5 g/day), hypoalbuminemia, marked edema, and hyperlipidemia. It is prone to complications such as infection and thrombosis.
Symptoms
- Heavy proteinuria
- Hypoalbuminemia
- Edema
- Hyperlipidemia
- Fatigue
Treatment
Glucocorticoids are the main treatment, combined with immunosuppressants when necessary, along with symptomatic care such as diuresis, lipid lowering, and anticoagulation. Take medication regularly as directed.
Dietary advice
Follow a moderate high-quality protein, low-salt, low-fat diet, and restrict sodium and fluid intake when edema is marked.
