A malignant tumor originating from primitive neural crest cells of the sympathetic nervous system, most common in infants and young children and often arising in the adrenal glands and retroperitoneum. It is highly malignant and prone to early metastasis.
Symptoms
- Abdominal mass
- Abdominal pain
- Fever
- Weight loss
- Bone pain
Treatment
Common in children; treatment combines surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy. Specialist evaluation is required.
Dietary advice
Strengthen nutritional support with adequate high-quality protein and calories, eat a light diet in small frequent meals.
