Overview

Tinea capitis is a contagious fungal infection of the scalp and hair caused by dermatophytes, most common in children and spread by contact. It presents with scaling, broken hairs, hair loss, or pustules.

Treatment

Caused by fungal infection; requires oral antifungals combined with topical treatment, cutting affected hair short and disinfecting utensils.
