Overview

A benign tumor formed by proliferation of cells of the blood or lymphatic vessel walls or surrounding tissue. It can occur at many sites, appearing as a raised bright-red mass on skin or mucosa and as nodules in internal organs.

Symptoms

  • Red patch
  • Local elevation
  • Blanching on pressure
  • Slow enlargement
  • Occasional bleeding

Treatment

Mostly benign, and some regress spontaneously; medication, laser, or surgery is used when necessary. Specialist evaluation is required.

Dietary advice

Maintain balanced nutrition with adequate vitamin intake and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit.
