Lumbar spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal canal in the lumbar region that compresses the spinal nerves. It commonly presents with low back pain, leg pain, numbness, and neurogenic intermittent claudication.
Symptoms
- Intermittent claudication
- Lower limb numbness
- Low back and leg pain
- Worse with prolonged standing
Treatment
Mild cases are managed with bed rest, medication, physical therapy, and back muscle exercises; severe cases require surgical decompression.
