Ectopic Pregnancy

Overview

Ectopic pregnancy is a complication in which the embryo implants outside the uterus, over 90% in the fallopian tube. Typical symptoms include abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding; heavy bleeding can cause a rapid heartbeat, fainting, or shock. It is diagnosed by measuring blood hCG combined with ultrasound.

• Missed period
• Abdominal pain
• Vaginal bleeding
• Rectal pressure sensation
• Fainting

Treatment

Choose conservative medical therapy or surgery based on the condition; ruptured bleeding is an emergency requiring immediate surgical hemostasis.

Dietary advice

After surgery, eat a light, easily digestible diet and gradually add quality protein and iron-rich foods to aid recovery.
