Pityriasis Alba

Overview

Pityriasis is a term describing a group of scaly skin lesions. Pityriasis alba presents as round, pale patches with fine scaling.

Symptoms

• Round pale patches
• Fine surface scaling
• Ill-defined borders
• Common on the face
• Common in children

Treatment

Usually self-resolving. Keep the skin moisturized and protected from sun, and apply a mild topical corticosteroid when necessary.

Dietary advice

Eat a balanced diet with plenty of vitamin-rich foods, and avoid picky eating.
