Gallbladder Cancer

Overview

A malignant tumor originating in the gallbladder, a pear-shaped sac beneath the liver on the right side that concentrates and stores bile. Early symptoms are often nonspecific.

Symptoms

• Right upper abdominal pain
• Jaundice
• Weight loss
• Loss of appetite
• Abdominal mass

Treatment

Treatment is mainly surgical resection, with chemotherapy added in advanced stages as a comprehensive plan. Specialist evaluation is required.

Dietary advice

Eat a low-fat, easily digestible diet with adequate high-quality protein, in small frequent meals, and strengthen nutritional support.
