Hypertensive nephropathy is kidney damage caused by chronic high blood pressure. It gradually impairs kidney function and is distinguished from renovascular hypertension, a form of secondary hypertension.
Symptoms
- Increased nighttime urination
- Proteinuria
- Edema
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
Treatment
Strictly control blood pressure to target, preferring renin-angiotensin system inhibitors to protect kidney function.
Dietary advice
Low-salt, low-fat diet, control weight, quit smoking and limit alcohol, and eat plenty of vegetables and fruits.
