Scleritis

Scleritis is an inflammatory disease of the scleral tissue, often associated with systemic autoimmune disease. It mainly presents as eye redness, pain, tenderness, and decreased vision; the lesion is deep and stubborn, and recurrent episodes can cause complications such as scleral thinning.
Symptoms
- Deep eye pain
- Localized purplish-red congestion
- Tenderness
- Photophobia and tearing
- Decreased vision
Treatment
Often associated with autoimmune disease. Use NSAIDs or corticosteroids and treat the underlying disease.
Dietary advice
Eat a light, balanced diet and avoid spicy irritating foods.
