Tinea Cruris (Jock Itch)

Overview

Tinea cruris is a dermatophyte infection of the groin skin. Lesions typically appear on the inner upper thigh and spread in a ring or arc shape with a well-defined, slightly raised border, and may extend to the genitals and perineum, often with a history of athlete's foot.

Symptoms

• Groin erythema
• Ring-shaped spread
• Raised border
• Scaling
• Intense itching

Treatment

Caused by fungal infection; keep the area dry and ventilated and apply topical antifungal cream consistently.

Dietary advice

A light diet avoiding spicy foods, with weight control to reduce local moisture.
