Overview

The iris is a hollow, ring-shaped membrane inside the eye with a central pupil. Iridocyclitis is a form of anterior uveitis involving inflammation of the iris and ciliary body.

Symptoms

  • Eye pain
  • Photophobia and tearing
  • Ciliary flush
  • Constricted pupil
  • Decreased vision

Treatment

A form of anterior uveitis. Prompt pupil dilation is needed to prevent adhesions; use topical corticosteroids and identify the cause.

Dietary advice

Eat a light, nutritious diet with plenty of vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables, and avoid spicy foods.
