Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a subacute or chronic inflammation of the eyelid margins, often caused by bacterial infection, meibomian gland dysfunction, or allergy. It mainly presents as redness, scaling, itching, and a burning sensation at the eyelid margin, and tends to recur.
Symptoms
- Red, swollen eyelid margin
- Scaling and crusting
- Itching and pain
- Eyelash loss
- Recurrent episodes
Treatment
Keep the eyelids clean, apply warm compresses to the lid margin, use topical antibiotic ointment, and control oil secretion in seborrheic cases.
Dietary advice
Eat a light diet, limit spicy and greasy foods, and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
