Cervical Spondylosis

Orthopedics

Overview

Cervical spondylosis is a degenerative disorder of the cervical spine featuring ligament thickening, disc degeneration and bone spur formation, which can compress nerves and cause pain or dysfunction.

Symptoms

  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Upper limb numbness
  • Dizziness
  • Limited movement
  • Stiffness

Treatment

Mainly conservative treatment—posture correction, neck exercises, physiotherapy and symptomatic pain relief; surgery is considered for severe symptoms or nerve compression.

Dietary advice

A balanced diet with adequate calcium and quality protein; avoid prolonged neck flexion and overexertion.
