Uveitis

Overview

Uveitis is inflammation of the uvea (iris, ciliary body, and choroid), most commonly acute anterior uveitis. Its cause is not well understood and is mainly related to autoimmune problems. Symptoms include eye redness, photophobia, pain, tearing, elevated eye pressure, and blurred vision, and it can lead to blindness in severe cases.

• Eye pain
• Photophobia
• Blurred vision
• Redness
• Floaters

Treatment

Often related to immune or infectious factors. Use pupil dilation and corticosteroid eye drops, and identify and treat the underlying disease.

Dietary advice

Eat a light, balanced diet and avoid spicy irritating foods.
