Hydatidiform Mole

Overview

Hydatidiform mole is an abnormal pregnancy resulting from a fertilized egg that implants but fails to develop normally. It is characterized by edematous placental villi forming grape-like vesicles, and is classified as complete or partial.

Symptoms

• Missed period
• Vaginal bleeding
• Enlarged uterus
• Worsening morning sickness

Treatment

After diagnosis, evacuate the uterus promptly to remove the tissue, then monitor blood hCG until normal with follow-up, watching for malignant transformation.

Dietary advice

Eat a bland, balanced diet, and strengthen nutrition after surgery with iron and protein to correct anemia.
