Placenta previa is a condition after 28 weeks of pregnancy in which the placenta attaches to the lower uterine segment, with its edge reaching or covering the internal cervical os, below the presenting part. Symptoms include painless bright-red bleeding in the second half of pregnancy. Complications include placenta accreta and postpartum hemorrhage.

- Abnormal fetal position
Treatment
Managed mainly with bed rest and expectant care; deliver by elective cesarean section depending on bleeding severity or near term.
Dietary advice
Eat plenty of iron- and protein-rich foods to prevent anemia, keep bowel movements regular, and avoid straining.
