Overview

Retinal vein occlusion is a common retinal vascular disease caused by obstruction of retinal venous blood flow, often related to hypertension and arteriosclerosis. It mainly presents as painless vision loss with retinal hemorrhage and edema, and is an important cause of blindness.

Symptoms

  • Painless vision loss
  • Distorted vision
  • Shadow in the vision
  • Visual field defect
  • Common in the middle-aged and elderly

Treatment

Often related to hypertension and arteriosclerosis. Control the underlying disease, and consider anti-VEGF injections and laser treatment.

Dietary advice

Eat a low-salt, low-fat diet, control blood pressure and blood sugar, and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
