Tinea Corporis (Ringworm of the Body)

Overview

Tinea corporis is a dermatophyte infection of the skin. It presents as ring-shaped erythematous patches with a raised, papular or vesicular border and central clearing, accompanied by scaling and noticeable itching.

Symptoms

• Ring-shaped erythema
• Papules and vesicles at the border
• Central clearing
• Scaling
• Marked itching

Treatment

Caused by dermatophyte infection; treated with topical antifungal creams, with oral antifungals for widespread lesions.

Dietary advice

A light diet avoiding spicy and greasy foods; maintain personal hygiene.
