Gastric Cancer

Overview

Gastric (stomach) cancer arises in the stomach lining. Early symptoms include heartburn, upper abdominal pain, nausea, and loss of appetite, while advanced disease causes weight loss, jaundice, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, and bloody stools. The main risk factor is Helicobacter pylori infection.

Treatment

Requires comprehensive treatment after specialist evaluation. Surgical resection may be performed and combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and targeted therapy.
