Fibroma

Overview

A benign tumor composed of fibrous or connective tissue that can occur in any organ. When the term is used without qualification, it is generally considered benign, in contrast to the malignant fibrosarcoma.

Symptoms

• Subcutaneous nodule
• Well-defined border
• Firm texture
• Slow growth
• Usually painless

Treatment

A benign tumor; asymptomatic cases can be observed, while those affecting function or enlarging markedly are surgically removed. Specialist evaluation is required.

Dietary advice

Maintain a balanced diet with adequate high-quality protein and vitamins, and keep a regular schedule.
