Overview

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues throughout the body. Severity varies widely, with common features including joint pain and swelling, fever, rash, and multi-organ involvement, alternating between flares and remission.

Treatment
