Psoriasis
DermatologyOverview
Psoriasis is a chronic, recurrent, inflammatory skin disease typically presenting as well-demarcated red plaques covered with silvery-white scales. Lesions may be itchy and range from small patches to widespread involvement, and skin injury can trigger new lesions (Koebner phenomenon). Patients have a higher risk of psoriatic arthritis, cardiovascular disease, and depression, and it is considered a genetically influenced condition triggered by environmental factors.
