Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B

Infectious Diseases

Overview

Hepatitis B is an acute or chronic liver inflammation caused by hepatitis B virus infection. Most people have no obvious symptoms at first infection; chronic infection may progress to cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Symptoms

  • Fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Liver-area discomfort
  • Jaundice
  • Nausea

Treatment

Chronic hepatitis B requires standardized antiviral therapy under a specialist with regular monitoring of liver function and viral markers; vaccination is an effective preventive measure.

Dietary advice

A balanced, light diet with quality protein and adequate calories; strictly avoid alcohol and liver-damaging foods.
