Ewing Sarcoma

Overview

A sarcoma occurring in bone or soft tissue, composed of small round cells with neuroectodermal differentiation. It typically affects adolescents and young adults, tends to metastasize early to the lungs, and is sensitive to radiotherapy.

Symptoms

• Bone pain
• Local swelling
• Fever
• Pathological fracture
• Weight loss

Treatment

Treatment combines chemotherapy, surgical resection, and radiotherapy. Specialist evaluation is required.

Dietary advice

Strengthen nutritional support with adequate high-quality protein and calcium, and eat small frequent meals during chemotherapy.
